Damn near nothing in anime and fantasy is practical. Logic doesn't exist in situations like this.

It's not a sword, it's a giant feeldoe sharpened to a point...

Resembles a blade used by Riddick, but the blade is further extended and the ridges are non-present. Considering the way the handle is behind the blade, there'd be no need for a handguard, and you potentially have more blade to use.
