Description
Alright let’s clear up a few things about Claire.
Who is Claire?:
Claire is an oc of mine with a little history, for those that are confused. Here go catch up: https://rule34.xxx/index.php?page=post&s=list&tags=claire_%28inuzu%29
I wouldn’t doubt people forgot about them after so much time has passed.
What’s her story?: Claire’s story is a muddled one, i figured if I GAVE instant happiness to someone with deep rooted trauma the victory is not earned. How it goes is, she was abused by plenty of trainers, she has been dropped as a Pokémon due to how the Pokémon world sees you being either a “male or female” which is an interesting topic I don’t see brought up. No Pokémon has been officially labeled as trans, so I put my spin on what you get when a abused Pokémon that has no self awareness or confidence to change her position that identifies as MTF, is thrown into this world.
Why should her happiness be earned?:
Well as someone with trauma myself and been through it. I cannot feel good just giving instant satisfaction, it isn’t the way to heal a soul from the bonds of trauma.
Claire’s issues is mainly she’s too gullible, due to her self confidence being so low she’s convinced herself she deserves this treatment. Akin to how Stockholm Syndrome works, until she finds herself, she will find herself tripping and falling in the same situations over and over again. To change truly you need to want the “need” to initiate it, not have it directly given to you, that would just develop a toxic codependency on the trainer taking care of Claire. Everyone has their own definition of saving, which is understandable why I see so many comments on “save claire draw happy ending!”
If I invoked an emotional response and got you invested I feel proud that you care so much about this. I promise its just a storm, she will meet some new friends and Pokémon that will teach her self love. That’s in the future comics I plan to do with them!
Hopefully this wraps up some thoughts and confusion

MemberWell, I didn't have any real respect for the artist before this, so I guess I have negative respect. -Respect. Doesn't help if you know what type of person Inuzu is when it comes to certain topics...

MemberGood gravy, never paid for a created character but I'd take her at least. Sheesh.

MemberAnd it doesn't bode well that this is how they treat their only trans character...

MemberI like how we were getting some art of this character not in horrible situations and then the artist is like "yeah they are crazy and hallucinated the whole thing. None of this character's development is real." L artist.

MemberThe concept is baffling (uhhh just to clarify this isn't meant to be sarcastic sorry about the tone)

MemberSince everyone is so concerned about Claire, I've added Inuzu's statement he gave on his Discord of what his intention with Claire is and what he plans to do with her for the future.

MemberThe horny part of my brain is disappointed and even a bit angry. Its not nice seeing abuse and an innocent person suffering from delusions. (Well, when outside of the context of bdsm & hypnosis of course)
However.
The storyteller part of my brain however is most definitely intrigued. Having her be suffering from delusion does explain the rather rude nature of her "master", as it is probably not one person, but whoever is in the vicinity with her.
Not to mention, well, she never really recovered. Her self steem was still on the negatives and she never managed to work out the things that afflicted her, which eventually led her to hallucinate.
While this is definitively upsetting, I doubt this is the last we'll see of her, and I think (and hope) that in the end she will find someone who truly cares for her.
We have seen the train, now its time to find the real light at the end of the tunnel.

Memberi like some of this artist's work, but man this just seems really fucked up even for story telling purposes. might just be me tho.

MemberThat description still doesn’t excuse the fact that they spent some time establishing and developing this character over multiple artworks only to invalidate any progress made whatsoever, and for what? To make them more pitiful? It’s still terrible writing.

MemberI really wanted more Claire for a long damn time, I love her and I love Inuzu's art, but waiting so long and getting this is... kinda disappointing.
Even though I wanted to see something wholesome with her at some point, I knew her being miserable and abused was kinda her whole thing, so I always knew more sad stuff was going to be the primary focus.
And a morbidly curious part of me actually wanted to see more sad stuff too.
But this is an unsatisfying way to continue it, and the excuse given in the description... frankly kinda sucks.
Still, it's new Claire content, and it's only one image deep into this... reboot, I guess, so I'll have to see how this develops. And the art itself is still excellent.
From the look of things immediately, it seems like white text box is considering taking her off the hands of black text box, which could be interesting.

MemberIf I had any choice in the matter of her fate, I would just take her away from that dreadful place and set it ablaze until it is reduced to nothing but cinders.
Say what you will about this comment, I just feel bad for Claire, she deserves better than… this.

MemberUnfortunate that the guy we saw early left her anyways...
And now she's mentally broken. She's going through a lot to develop, like the author says... she'll have a chance to grow

MemberFunny how this is their one trans character and they end up in the worst situation possible
Idk if it’s a coincidence but hmm

MemberIn the majority of cases involving abandonment + abuse, intervention from an outside party is a necessity for the wellbeing of someone being abused.
Yes the victim should make some effort to seek help (when possible), but putting the whole weight of it on them alone is disgusting. I hate that I'm feeling heated over a fictional character on a porn site, but it's the principal of the matter of the artist's mindset around the situation that gets me riled up.
Fictional or not, having the mindset that getting help from being abused and abandoned revolves around the phrase "happiness must be earned" or "pull up your bootstraps and put the effort in" is abhorrent and frankly dangerous.
Edit: Downvote all you want, but I will die on this hill as a victim of abandonment and emotional abuse.
