MemberI respect the desire to have a gallery that has high quality art and high quality comment sections but the amount of wanting to have your cake and eat it too is a bit much.
I think everyone here would prefer how e6 comment sections look to r34 comment sections but it's pretty clear the community in general, especially those under posts like this, would prefer a slightly lighter touch. You can allow the community to have no influence on how you do things but then you end up with threads like this, like the gender tag what you see posts, etc. Sure, you have enough saturation so that you don't have to care but if these threads that drive the mods and users against each other keep happening the animosity between users and mods is going to become the default. Nobody wants that.
The analogy you made with the pizzeria was also a bit telling. Sure, artists can be temperamental and demanding at times but you really would prefer they not participate? My else would be here? Several artists I know have made dnps here due to a friend trying out art, posting something on here, and then had it deleted for vague reasons. Sure, that's taking your buisness elsewhere but it would be nice if e6 was a more complete gallery and these scenarios keep leading to fights with mods, users, and content. It may be worthwhile to create a consistent minimum quality guideline that is publicly available or even find some way to involve the community (polls in comments maybe) so its no longer just what feels like gatekeeping from a series of revolving gates.

There is always going to be someone complaining about how something is run and it doesnt matter how hard or light their touch is, hard decisions are not going to be popular and there are going to be people who are going to carry that vendetta after they meet that hammer.
If people have a problem with how the site is run then they dont need to comment or just need to take themselves elsewhere, they are creating their own problems, not the mods. Going off the handle to throw a tantrum like some of these guys do really helps nobody and does nothing to change moderation's mind. And if I have to hear about someone nutting in every other post or how looking at vaporeons feet makes them feel I *would* take my business elsewhere as would a good chunk of the community, we would lose quality engagement in the comments section almost entirely over the course of the next few years.

I will humor you on that one thing, yes that post was removed for a reason, and as I mentioned on that exact post I dislike that decision as much as alot of people *BUT* if they allowed that post then they'd have to accept similar stuff. And guess what? Now people can make compilations like that with the intention of harassing users without fear of retaliation. There are so many things that can go wrong with that decision. Personally i'd love it if someone could find a way to add something to it to make it acceptable. Alot of those comments were years old or actually funny, not just pure cringe.
I saved the post regardless, so hardly worth crying about.

When a mod is bemoaning the fact that artists are allowed to directly participate in the galleries of their own art it comes off as, like I said earlier, wanting your cake and to eat it too.
Some people are assholes, you will and never should appeal to them I understand that but seeing the immediate assumption be that someone is sea-lioning is telling. I know I'm not exactly standing shoulder to shoulder with the best example here, it's why I decided to participate myself, but let's not cherry pick here. Sure. Downvotes are not proof something is worse than the other but again if the participation of mods, and especially the way they participated here, brings that much more ire it's indicative of community sentiment. It's free to be underplayed, ignored, and passed by but if the community has no real influence on how the site is run its only a matter of time until that animosity becomes the default which is embarrassing for the site as a whole.

MemberDiffusion of responsibility to a degree is already there. We pretty much run the website and moderation only jumps in when someone steps out of line or to approve the posts. It's less of a community sentiment and more of a subgroup sentiment of people who think they should be able to start a group jerk or a hate riot in the comments...what's next actual RP? when would the exceptions stop? The "assholes" are the ones who usually have the most to say, a majority of the rest of us would prefer to sit quietly and look at art. This piece is a prime example, 3270 upvotes and counting and the comment section is barren by comparison except for people who want to complain that someone got a record for saying they nut, which in itself is just childish.
When you break it down, the rules are simple for commenting, don't be weird, don't be an ahole, and don't harass users or artists, people come here to get away from that and it's not that much to ask. If moderation doing their job is an issue, then it's that subgroup that needs to grow up and move on. Management is never easy, if you are popular then you've obviously cut corners to get to that point but there's always going to be that voice that says they aren't doing enough or there's going to be that voice saying their doing too much.
Why change a system that isn't broken? And what trash website got shut down that this all of a sudden became a big issue? We throw a fit about someone making an announcement, used to be those guys got downvoted into oblivion.
If anything we need someone with the authority to hide these comments from view. Like a dedicated pre-moderation team that can temporarily pause someone's ability to comment and hide their comments from view for 24 hours without going full ban hammer while the mod team catches up.

This is exacerbated by the rules being mostly vibes based as well. What is weird? Is complaining about how someone is "wasting their talents" by making vore weird? Being an asshole? I see that all the time but it seems being overtly sexual is the only hard line I see enforced. Nobody wants this site to turn into the rpfest rule34 is, I've said that in literally every reply thus far. I don't like the sentiment that literally any difference to the more crass users is just a slippery slope towards anarchy.
I do like the last comment you made, well, I like the idea I got from it atleast: many websites have a sfw/nsfw filter. If there are some words that people find detestable (nut, etc) they should be able to flick a switch and sudden the comment section is emaculate and perfect discussion of the nuances of the piece.
Anyways, I'm not going to feed into this any more I feel I said my piece.
As for the animation itself it was really impressive. It kept improving and toping itself and the music fit pretty well with the action. I really respect that Zav keeps improving with time.
