I grew up with a used copy of Diamond, and for a while I had only ever seen the Q form and thought it was a key. Then I caught R and thought it was a turkey's head; it wasn't until my third letter that I realized they were letters. But even then, the main Unown letter I still don't understand to this day is V - it looks more like a lowercase G, like what you'd see in certain fonts or the old Google logo (you can look up "google gravity" to see what it looked like). How do you get a V from a lowercase G? It's never made any sense.
