I think the little bird can show people aspects of their past like things they did...and the whole no wings thing was to promote a sense of peril were they act on pure instict and desire. So it seems..that deep down..Dash has a crush on firefly.

Dash fell asleep in a cinema and had a dream. Haven't you ever had a dream where things you've supposedly 'never' seen before look similar to things you've seen in real life? You don't usually realize it until you wake up and then you're like:
'Huh, -this- looked like -that-. Weird'

You can't dream about something you've never seen before, so Dashes subconscious probably used Gilda to fill in the blanks for the 'new species of bird'.

Also, Gilda-bird seemed dead to dash.
Dash once believed their friendship was dead.
Flutters reveled her to simply be sleeping.
Does this imply that griffon-Gilda will 'wake up' soon? Start to realize things maybe? Maybe their friendship will wake up. :D

The Shipping thing could have just been some random Dash-subconscious thing. I know I've had some weird dreams that ultimately ment nothing.

I think the bird looks like Gilda, Firefly and Rainbow Dash, Gilda because of how I looks, and Firefly and Rainbow Dash because of the coloring.

What I got from this whole thing is basically. The bird is a representation of Gilda and Rainbow Dash's relationship. Because of what Gilda did, the relationship between them had died, but when Gilda came back to try and apologize, her subconscious picked up on it, thus the bird wasn't dead, but merely sleeping. When she peered into the birds eyes what she saw was her true self- a self that is scared and frightened of uncertainty, because she could be harboring feelings for Firefly and she doesn't want to admit it to herself. Firefly reassures her that it's okay, because they are together.

Wet Dream = Night Fight

Wing boner only means one thing...the thing she hates she will slowly become..this must be a confusing time for her.
