  • I did get into the "fandom" the sexual way, though I had an affinity for the anthropomorphic animals long before I even had a name for it.

Didn't everyone? People pretty much grow up watching furries through cartoons, sports, kid shows, and some things in the fantasy genre.

"It's all that damned television's fault! They got frogs kissin' pigs, what'd they think was gonna happen?"
In all seriousness, this is one of two best explanations of the fandom, and internet interaction in general, that I've seen. Bravo.

  • I didn't come for the sex, I came for the kick ass art, great stories, and cool people everyone else ignores! (and no, the pun was NOT intentional)

To be honest, I...got more than I expected looking around. That's not to say it didn't entertain, it just caught me by surprise. If anything, it's always the art that doesn't fear censorship that always ends up with the best art. The David sculpture anyone?

  • I'm super open to sex and I'm an extremely sexual girl, and the acceptance the fandom gave me was infatuating. <3

CR's review of 'Animalympics' on Familiar Faces. It pretty much puts into words exactly how I view the fandom and the purpose of anthropomorphism as a whole. If you know someone who 'just doesn't get why you'd want to fuck animals,' it's a good place to start.

  • Reading this comic puts a wide smile on my face because it talks about the reality of most relationships in the furry fandom.

I got into the fandom through spirituality (I'm Otherkin as well) but a few panels into this comic and it paints what actually happened.

It reminds me of how much I love the fandom; I can express my interests through an avatar that best represents me and I can talk to people I can rely on. <3

Also, I love how some people HATE or at the very least don't understand or question furries, when they never question anything furry in media, entertainment, education, etc.

  • For me it was a combo of sly cooper games (damn you Carmelita this is all your fault) and accidentally finding Here there be dragons and thus Herpy.net.

  • It’s not ALL about sex, but you’re lying to yourself if you deny that that’s absolutely a huge part of where it comes from, and how it is perceived. You can’t just act like that isn’t a huge part of it even if it isn’t part of it for you, and you can’t get mad at people for finding it strange.
