  • Look, I think this comment is going to be downvoted to hell because I'm going to actually be critical of Wolfy-Nail and furries can't stand when people don't like what they like, but I don't care. I feel like I need to say it.

I'm just not liking Wolfy-Nail anymore. Everything he draws now is just super stylized and over sexualized. The breasts are way too big, the nipples are grossly swollen, the labia are always plump and puffed up, everything he draws now is the same. He didn't always draw like this, and I used to really love his art back then. Now, it's just like he draws everything so formulaic, there's no real reason for me to be excited about his art. I think Celeste and Demicoeur and Meesh are ten times the artist he is now.

So...yea. My opinion on a popular furry artist. Crucify me.

Looking over this comment and back at wolfy nail's history, I'll have to agree, especially with the nipples. While I still do like his art, you make a lot of very valid points.

Trust me, you are the not the only one thinking this. I was not sure if it was me getting into the fandom more or me starting to draw about 5 months ago, but the "huge names" in the fandom artists wise are not all the much better than most people with 4k-10k watchers on FA and the like.

What made people like Wolfy-nail the cream of the crop?

  • It's everyone's personal taste, so IMO I don't see much of a point in arguing about it honestly. For me, I liked Nail when he drew his stuff old way, I still do when he draws it like he does now, simply in different way. Styles change, habits come and go. Every artist has ups and downs in their career. The measure of artistic talent isn't objective, and things like him being famous among other furry artists is really irrelevant.

I respect your opinion, I'm still kind of new to his art, and I really like it all, and I love his style, and how he draws the body even in a non sexural way; but you have a fair point. He dose seem to repeat things.

Honestly, I don't know where you are getting this "puffy nipples" thing from. Plenty of girls have puffy nipples like this. Not to mention if you look back at about the last 20 or 30 wolfy-nail pics, almost none of them have puffy nipples.

Give him a break. Everyone tends to fall into certain patterns once something stops being a hobby and turns into a job. You may have an issue with his pictures having similar traits but there is no doubt that each piece on its own is still very high quality art. Let us also keep in mind that this is very likely a commissioned work, he had to keep to an standard and not risk straying too far from the commissioner's expectations.

Your entire negative judgement upon this particular piece seems entirely base off your expectation that it should be different from previous pieces. That is a very subjective opinion. There is nothing wrong with sharing a subjective opinion on a piece of art, but its unfair to judge all of one artist's work in that fashion. It would be much more fair if you could actually find some objective reasons to dislike his work, which I am sure you will find very few.

If you look at the most successful porn movies for example, you see that most people have a real bland and shallow taste. ;)

I agree. It sucks when good artists begin losing their hand. No, I don't mean he is less talented, I just mean his characters are too sexualized, as you said. His art is not as fun to watch as it used to be, it's losing its "tasteful" value. It's sad.

  • Well I do like his older art, though I think his current work is AMAZING and I for one, look forward to every one of his releases.

I get what you are saying. Wolfy's stuff is very sexualized and such but what a person is into is very much based on their own tastes. For example, I like Wolfy's art because of the cartoony style of it. It just adds a certain... genasaequa to his art that turns me on for no apparent reason. My favorite piece of art on this website is post #426372 purely because of its style. So thanks for your opinion it has definately changed how I look at Wolfy's art.

I made an Account on here just to emphasize his point. Wolfy-nail's style is highly predictable, incredibly stylized, and the anatomy isn't very flexible at all. He has alot of potential to do alot more and make an more diverse artist out of himself, but it is not our place to make that happen for him.

Otherwise, we would have an artist who has not an very defining feature. Wolfy-nail's problem is his defining features represent absolutely no DEVELOPMENT in his drawings. I'm not saying I would not want a commission from him, but he has a long way to go to becoming a truly great artist. And he knows it. I still think it would be cool to get an commission from him. Excuse my scrutiny XD im hihgly critical of highly standardized artists

on a side note, The way he drawn hips and pelvis's always bugged me more than his portrait like drawings.

Yeah, well I seen a lot of comments on your comment already, I want to tell you something about the real world right now. There are women with even larger natural breasts, nipples, labia, etc like this, They are extremely common too. I mean yes, he is very repetitive with his styles, but at least he remains consistent with solid work unlike many other artists who had to give up on doing their work because they couldn't keep their work at the same level or better than past levels. But still, please acknowledge that rl women can have parts even bigger than the ones in this picture even, and don't complain if you end up with one of them.

Stupid artists who try to make things diverse fail around 80% of the time, unless an artist keeps their work consistent and steadily growing, they will fall very fast in their career, I have seen it happen already. Don't be a fool and learn a little about life before commenting, there is a reason I choose computer programming as my major and not computer graphics and art, people expect too much out of you and even when you are either diverse or consistent, you will always have people who like and people who dislike your work. Give wolfy-nail a break and go away please.

All this does is prove my point. He needs to steadily grow. I like his work but it's a weird flex to defend. I'm not even a non-supporter of his artwork but that doesn't mean I agree with the decisions. Calm tf down. I love to see more of his artwork
