Those are intentional artifacts meant to make this image unusable for AI training. Unfortunately this is the only way we artists can fight it.

So no, you are def not crazy. :) And I don't like it either. I'll try some options in the future which are less intrusive on quality.

thanks for the reply! it really sucks that the only way you can stop ai from training on your art often ends up also degrading the visual fidelity of artwork you spend so much time working on. that said, if it's the only option you can do, regardless of whether or not we the people like it, continue to do it to protect your livelihood. <3
