What the hell will remembering do? It's the fall-back plan of someone who didn't spend enough time with whoever died. You care about someone, spend as much time as you can with them, then say goodbye to them when they're gone. After that, remembering them makes you feel depressed, which wouldn't be something they'd want. And when you're gone, who's left to remember them?
