MemberI like the idea. It’s something different to see Pokémon as service animals is a good idea

Autistic people are more likely to be on the spectrum, so that could be a reason?

MemberSo it's just an ESA? I'm not throwing shade, I'm just curious if there's something specific or if it's just an ESA
Lightsidesoul
MemberI wonder if service animal trained Growlithe would also be trained to recognize and avoid Fire Stones.
I mean, with the "Weighted Pressure Therapy", a sudden change in mass and firepower would throw off training, right?
I guess there could be Everstones in the harnesses of unevolved service Pokémon, but even real life service animals get those taken off every once and a while, right?

Member"service dogs provide physical safety and an emotional anchor for children with autism. With their child tethered to a service dog, families are able to engage in activities as simple as going to the park or going out to eat as a family."

MemberI mean...wouldn't sylveon fit more? Since their feelers can pass on good calming vibes?
Lightsidesoul
MemberThat would run the risk of someone forming a dependency on Sylveon's powers to feel good vibes. After all, according to the AMA, 45% of addictions start as medications.
I feel like a psychic type, such as a member of the Ralts or Gothita line, would be better, to be able to tell when an Autistic person is starting to feel overloaded or about to have an episode.

MemberI'm on the spectrum myself and while I'm at the higher-functioning end of what was Aspergers Syndrome. I'm someone who you could walk past and not assume I wasn't autistic, when I would have a meltdown it would be very much a more typical appearance of one. I feel like I'd rather have the Growlithe as when I had a meltdown deep pressure calmed me down a lot. Sylveon would be nice but I can see where some might see the good vibe ability it has as narcotic after a while. Why not have an Eevee as an autism support/therapy Pokemon? One that can evolve and devolve as needed, Flareon for deep pressure, Sylveon for clinical depression help, Umbreon for help at night when you're having trouble, Espeon for anxiety attacks "which I suffer a lot", Leafeon for aromatherapy (big help when I used to have my post-meltdown cry), Eevee for when you are in public places and might get over-stimulated, Vaporeon, Glaceon, and Jolteon I have no idea who they could help. If you're on the spectrum and have an idea on how they can help sound off or reply.

MemberAutistic people are more likely to identify as trans as we're more introspective as we have to be in order to have a proper sense of self
