  • If you're looking for old/classic turn based combat rpgs you probably haven't heard of, and don't mind a lot of story/reading, I highly recommend anything by Spiderweb Software, they have several game series like that, but specifically the Geneforge series. They're currently getting remakes too, so you could either play the slightly clunky but charming 90's original version, or the sleek new remakes that are currently coming out. There's 5 original games, 2 remakes so far, and I think all of them are on Steam and GOG for pretty cheap. It's my all-time favourite game series so I can't recommend them enough.

Hey not to be rude but this is the kind of thing you should post in the blips section, not in the comments on an unrelated post

You're fine, but can you explain that? I don't comment often so I don't know what a blip is, also is it really unrelated? The image description is asking for recommendations and I know R-mk has replied to comments here before, sorry if this doesn't fit, I just wanted to offer a game suggestion.

I'm blind ๐Ÿ’€ I completely missed the description. Also, blips is at the top of the page next to "tags" and "pools", and it's basically a place for you to post random stuff.

Lol all good, no worries, and ah, so it's like the E621 version of 4chan's /b/ board?

  • I just finished playing a fairly recent (2018) RPG called Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass. It's somewhat Earthbound-inspired and has a pretty unique mechanic in the form of the main character's transformations. Also pretty challenging and content-dense with a bunch of sidequests and optional dungeons. Be warned that the game frequently deals with some very dark subject matter, though.

While not strictly turn-based combat, Chrono Trigger is one of the greatest RPGs or just games in general ever made.

  • If you haven't played it (which maybe, based on the earthbound mention), Mother 3 is fantastic, and has a really good fanmade english translation out there.

  • A bit late to the party, but a really good one is called In Stars And Time (ISAT for short)! Ive been playing it and I love it, and it definitely succeds at capturing that classic Zelda/Earthbound feel!
