Seems a bit insensitive since if I recall some of what people were harassing them over was old nsfw art they weren't proud of
I didn't read into the situation enough though so I'm not sure if that was just bullshit or not

dunno why you was downvoted, most artists do porn and not one of them deserves to be bashed for keeping it private. Wouldn't call it insensitive bc i don't think this qualifies as bashing someone, but it's an otherwise valid concern. I didn't read into it per se but when only detail that bashers mention is ANIMAL GENITALIA (always in all caps) i suppose it was very mild. It's sad to see one wrong thing (that we know off) validating every other bullshit gripe anyone had with pansear, especialy "dismissing a grooming victim" in banishing of 0303emily. Otherwise it's a very pleasant development for me, i had a long disdain for a suffocatingly wholesome appearance that pansear put on (tho they had some nice work when they differed from it) and cutesy-variety puriteens that surrounded them; it was nice to see shipping container implode and even nicer seeing pansear go.

They were bashed because half their audience was kids who think drawing any kind of penis is awful, and drawing any kind of non-human penis is zoophilia. The zoophilia claims were what would fall under tentacle cock on this website, the simply tapered design that many people use (including myself) when we don't bother to/can't draw a complex penis more similar to in real life. As someone who knows many artists, even the most wholesome of soccer-moms has made a penis or boobs in whatever medium they are familiar with. I've seen a fat dick made out of macaroni and glue made by a 60 year old woman. She said it was hot. Its universal.

The grooming stuff from the people I've talked to, because I can't contain my curiosity and dug way too deeply into this, was very very hard to find the details of. The truth was so hard to find because so many involved twisted it to either strengthen their accusations or defend themselves. An adult artist who I was told was very very autistic sent "cringe" nsfw to a 17 year old artist who was their friend with the intent to mock it, and at another point the younger artist asked the adult artist about nsfw comms and pricing them. It seems rather ruthless and unforgiving given the context, especially considering the nature of the artist's and their mindsets. I think someone had it out for them, and used these things to spearhead an online effort, which leads me to my next discovery.

From what I've heard, the screenshots of the "encouraging people to do self harm" were fabricated, but nobody cared because they were just looking for an excuse to go for the throat. A very hostile fandom from what I can glean. I can understand why art of it is slowly dwindling if anyone who makes a step out of line is attacked as such.

Honestly, this happens a lot with media in general. It sucks, but often times the best thing you can do for yourself is not interacting with the fandom at large.

as I have now found out what has happened in regards to Pansear and why the comment I responded to was talking about dissing Pansear (and rightfully so as I now know)

I don't have context links sadly, I just found out about it just about now and a little googling brought up various instances of Pansear's misdeeds.
I can't confirm legitimacy myself, but what has been done, how the community aligns and the fact that Pansear has basically deleted all of their social medias, I'm inclined to believe it's all true (to some extent)

if you're talking about the self-harm stuff the screens are completely fake, the comment section is hell for talking I can try to explain why I think so on discord instead (@erinthebat)
pansear fucked up quite multiple times but this was just some made out accusation to make her loose her place in the fandom (at least I really think so I don't have hard proof tho)

From my perspective as an outsider, this looks like more of a massive misunderstanding and potentially accidental appropriate actions rather than malicious intent, but I cannot be entirely sure as I did not witness any of this.

I'm not sure who's even still here reading this but the screenshots of self harm were proven to be fabricated by a malicious third party who just wanted to cause chaos, and idiots online took them without blinking and started spreading them everywhere. Now the community seems to have gone back against the original people who spread it, but they are of course claiming innocence and asking for forgiveness even though no such kindness was offered to their victims. The tumblr rainworld community then proceeded to have a number of artists decide "I ain't dealing with this" and left the community after talking about how toxic and angry people on it could get for no reason. Many of the people who spread the original screenshots basically said "yeah they were fake but pansear was annoying so I'm still glad they're gone". Regardless of your opinion pansear was a great creative conduit in the fandom and attracted a number of people to it. Now with them gone, and the community stained with their proverbial public execution, I think the reverse is more likely. Many artists who were on the edge are leaving, and many new ones will look at this fandom, which already loves to attack anyone who makes NSFW of any kind, and think "No thanks."
