This animation started as a little reward for patreon, but I extended the initial deadline and it proceeded to consume an entire month of work. I can't believe my dumbass thought I could squeeze 100+ hours into less than10 days XD. It still ended up pretty constrained for time in spots but I'm still pretty happy with a lot of the shots. There's definitely room for improvement and things I'd definitely do differently now, but that'll have to be for future projects. I can already tell I've improved a lot over the course of this animation alone and learned so many things.

One thing I want to work on in the future is composition. I feel like a lot of the shots in this one are kind of similar and a bit flat at times. I want to mix it up and add a bit more depth and direction to the shots. I feel like it could've benefited from some extra small shots too like a proper establishing shot or replacing some of the reused shots with a different shot. The other big thing is consistency and staying "on model", I feel like I should've spent a little extra time revising Calico's design and developing her ref sheet to add more clarity to the size, shape, and positioning of all her markings and revising her design. I draw her so much cuter now, that's need to be reflected in her reference material!

I did a little bit of pre-production and it certainly helped, but due to the initial time constraints of the project before I extended it, things got a little rushed in some of the initial shots and I was too far in to go back and redo them. I should've given the thumbnails for the shots some extra iterations, looked at the project as a whole, and how contiguous shots would look next to each other. Oh well, there's always next time! For larger projects in the future, I'm definitely going to slow down and give them the proper love, care, and time they need. I'm looking forward to working on more animations!
