For no good reason? She was raised in a glorified prison where nobody gave a shit about her and it's safe to assume she was abused. The person who was helping Blitzø pick out hellhounds literally said she was worthless and wouldn't amount to anything in life.

Also, she's actually chill and even socially awkward. S1E8 showed how much of an outcast she is (but she did end up making friends) and she helped Octavia with her problems. In the latest episode, she looked after Moxxie and when the stress of work got to him, she wrapped him up in a blanket, gave him ice cream, and put on a musical for him.

Her tough girl act is just that. An act. It's a facade. She acts cold and keeps people at a distance so they can't hurt her because she's so sure they will. It's what she's dealt with her entire life. But with gestures like her comforting Octavia and Moxxie, it's clear she's still a good person (by Hell standards anyway)
