To be entirely fair, cold in a tundra is entirely different from cold in a desert, but both can get equally as cold at night, as desert temperatures at night can often reach freezing or below depending on the time of year, and considering it’s supposed to be winter in this one, I’d say that below freezing is more likely

Both can get cold, but not equally as cold. I've been in -42°C in the Tundra before. However, it definitely gets cold in the desert, which is made worse by it being so hot during the day.

The delta in the desert is much greater and the changes much quicker, which will stress the body considerably more and feel colder since it's used to the heat.
