why are the images being resized for? Is there a point don't say bigger is better.

bigger is not all the time better this is why i say that. this image size and harddrive space it takes up 4005x4500 (5.8 MB) and here the smaller one of the same image 1139x1280 (195.6 KB) and you tell me what one is better.
