I think the tat would be better if it was just the hexagon with ears, and no writing. Or maybe just with the 'e'. that way it would be obscure enough that it could just be explained away to people who you wouldn't want to know about it.

e621 is also a code number for a naturally-occurring salt used to add extra flavor in pre-packaged foods (and, I believe, this is also why the site was given this particular name). Thus, the artist could also pass off the tattoo as being a subtle joke (for example, he could pass if off as his way of joking that he adds 'extra flavor' to any situation he finds himself in).
