Artists comment: Yeah I did it
After nearly three days of insomnia (for other reasons) and 20+ hours of drawing (and mindlessly staring at things).

  • Based on an earlier post by Snowskau on tumblr Seen here , it would seem the Tetton are the completed version of his WIP Species.
At first they were called Borelian (which the orange one still is) I think and he merged his personal characters up and made the Tetton, summing it up basically.

Looks like his surge of inspiration payed off. :)

  • The art style makes these look like hornless Charr while the armor reminds me of that wholly impractical Sergal ceramic plate mail.

Agreed, this artist is basing this species off of too many videogame references. That armor is impractical and wouldn't even work in real life.

Fantasy based off fantasy is still fantasy. It is true a touch of realism is appreciable but to a degree that plate mail looks just about as clunky as our own historical armors which too had many pros and cons.

I'm sure if Snowskau would study armors and how they work more closely he would be able to make an armor of that type that looks more probable and more effective. Again, needless to say it will still have issues, as with any armor.

  • It's surprisingly difficult to read such a elaborated fantasy description with that cat/dog penis at the side. Very nice.
Some nickpickings: The teeth are describe as cat-like but i count eight incisors instead of twelve (more human-like, nothing wrong with that) and I don't see any premolar (a little more worrisome).
The armor doesn't need to be full armor, but this one let some important parts expose. The neck could use some chainmail and you wouldn't want to have your elbows of feet but during an fight. Some elements from full plate armor doesn't match a light amour: the intrusive sight for example.
