Pokemon can't mega-evolve without the trainer's consent.

There's that whole thing where their hearts have to be in sync or whatever, so the pokemon wouldn't be able to force it out of the trainer.

Wait... I'm pretty sure you can still recall your pokemon mid-battle even after they mega evolve.

Yes but some Pokemon (such as Ash's Pikachu) can choose to not go into their poke-ball.

So he uses his trainer as a source of power? somebody is a bad bad birdy.

Never, EVER, underestimate the power of the pokemon. I have my own way of looking at the world of pokemon which is the baseline for a book Im writing myself. The pokemon may not necessarily in control of their powers directely, they may simply be in control of a rare type of energy, and it may be this energy that decides what will happen with their pokemon-host. If the energy decides something, than that should happen...

Technically the guy's right. I mean, this is a comic and whatever, so people would do what they want to work on the story they wanna tell in their way, take in different head canons on certain topics, etc.

It's not like the guy's being picky or anything, just stating what he knows.

well you can find trade to evolve pokemon in the wild so clearly they find a way to do trainer needed things without trainers
