if i'm mistaken on that then i hereby raise a question: why are there all of these mlp pics that are clearly R63 versions of ponies from the show yet there is no R63 tag?

Because this is NOT rule63, this is simply a female with a penis and balls. AKA futanari / dickgirl.

the "dickgirl" in this pic with the musical note for a cutie mark is octavia in the show (a female) yet here she is a male aka R63 version of her. i do know what R63 means and i'm not blind. also, iirc a futa has both male and female genital thus not being a dickgirl.

i'm not new to R63 and i'm certainly not new to porn on the internet.

well, after asking on the forums and parasprite explaining things, this is R63 octavia here. it's just the tagging for r63 here at e621 is a bit more complicated than i realised.

so yeah, out of the 3 forms of r63 (crossgender male, crossgender female, dickgirl), this IS r63 as far as the dickgirl tag is concerned.

Not really, at least not here in e621... for it to be considered a r63 version of a character, it needs to have other characteristics associated with that of the other gender, not just the genitals, otherwise it is considered to be a dickgirl, instead.

actually, i believe many other sites adopt that point of view as well... rule34 comes to mind, for example.

Octavia is far too feminine to be R63 in this picture, and rather than looking like a blocky stallion "she" looks like a mare, as mentioned by unseeneye, genital swap doesn't mean gender swap, as there need to be more changes (looks etc) to be classed as R63 or gender swapped.
