  • Please, people if you can't handle tagging, leave it to the professionals. Not everything that has a penis is male and not everything that has tits is female. NEITHER of these characters here are male OR female. Penis ++ Vagina = Hermaphrodite. People who are looking for males don't want herms. People who are looking for females do not want herms. Can we all please just get this through your thick skulls so I don't have to keep cleaning up your mistakes?

Barzillai = originally male made herm for this set so yes the tagging works

Interesting twist on Sulfer starting off as a herm in this series

Pictures are tagged based on what they show, not on the story progression of a comic, not on any previous pictures, not on what the character "normally" looks like.

Granted and accepted, so not in dispute, but you kinda missed the point.....

No need to rant or belittle anyone for tagging, just fix it and move on.

No, I do believe you have missed the point. Re-read frazzledragon's comment. If that's not good enough for you, go read the "Tag what you SEE" guidelines. It absolut is, was, or would be in ANY other context. Here, right here, in this image right on this page, are two characters with:

    Penis
    Vagina
    Breasts

That combination of anatomical features translates to one (and ONLY one) gender tag: Herm. Period. Don't like it? Go piss and moan at the administrators. But don't hold your breath. The tags work the way they work for a reason.

See, now if this had been the first time it had happened, or even just the first time that DAY that it happened, I could do that. No problem. When every single day I find at least half a dozen dicks tagged "Female" and twice as many boobs tagged "male," sorry, but no. Somebody's got to get a megaphone in their ear because obviously quietly wiping their asses for them isn't getting the message through.

No need to continue this banter.

Until people learn to tag properly and not get butthurt over being corrected, and until administrators start siding with the people who are promoting site policy over personal opinions, this kind of "banter" will continue to be necessary, whether I'm the one "ranting about it" or not.

No, you will heed an administrators warning about arguing. If you are so bothered by someone's refusal to follow our tagging guidelines, report them and let us take care of the situation. You in particular continue to argue in the comments of at least a few posts and it is tiresome.

Please allow us to do our jobs and make it easier for everyone involved. I was nice enough to leave in-comment warnings, but if my pleads go unheard I will not be so nice anymore.

  • And whom, exactly, do I report? The person who posted the image and possibly did not add a single tag of their own, or any number of people who MIGHT have added/edited the tags later?

And, at the risk of continuing to be "argumentative," I am in no way intending nor even capable of prohibiting you (or any administrator) from doing your job. However, as a member, it is MY "job" to do what I can to make YOUR job easier. As fellow members THEIR job is to read and understand the rules, policies, and guidelines of this site as a condition of membership. Some have, some clearly have not. Technically, yes, it is your "job" to find offenders, correct them, and hand out disciplinary measures as needed. But to put it into realistic perspective, the administrators are few, and the members are many. For every one of you there are what? A hundred? A thousand? Ten thousand? A hundred thousand "average Joe/Jane" members that you are charged with keeping in line? This is why every site that offers any form of membership asks its members to do their part in keeping each other in check and informed. Does my patience with this wear a little too thin at times? I won't deny it. But that is why the line under my name says "member" and not "admin." I am not, shall we say, "diplomatic" enough to serve the e621 in an official capacity. But I still do what I can to make your job more simple not by merely saying "yo, your tags are wrong. Straighten up or I'll report you" but by explaining exactly which tag(s) is incorrect and explaining why, by site tagging standards and policy. If people try to pull some political correctness card, or try to argue "well this character is such-and-such in some other context" I point out, in a manner that leaves no ambiguity or room for further argument, that this site's tagging practices are NOT determined by their personal opinions. Could I be more gentle in doing so? Yes, admittedly, I could. Has that ever proven effective in my experience? Not even once. Maybe it's because I don't have that little tag under my name that says, in five little letters, "you get in my crosshairs, I can and will end your ride here and now." Maybe it's because hardly anybody listens to anybody else unless they can out-do them in some way or another. I really couldnt' say.

Your warnings are heard and understood. But every single day I still see dicks tagged "female" (because that is me primary search tag, therefore the tag I will most likely spot an inconsistency with). In-comment warnings to the people like me trying to call to attention something that everybody here should darn-well know by now isn't going to fix that. Banning me for ranting, arguing, or otherwise "disturbing the peace" isn't going to change that. Only by making people abundantly aware of errant tagging practices will effect any change to said practices.

If my methods are distasteful to you I understand. I'm blunt, abrasive, and often deliver my words in a way that says "if you wanted it sugar-coated, go cry to Willy Wonka." I speak fluent snark and have displayed a very low tolerance for people blundering over something that should, by all rights, be common knowledge here. That offends people. I get that. I'm not here to offend, and I'm certainly not here to try to complicate things for the people in charge. But hte people in charge are few in number. It is entirely unrealistic to expect you all to dedicate yourselves full-time to policing a few hundred thousand images to make sure every single one is appropriately and accurately tagged at all times. You need people like me. The idle, "too much time on their hands" busy-bodies who will take a few minutes away from their browsing to say "hey, that tag's wrong. It doesn't belong here" and more importantly, say WHY that tag doesn't belong. We're living in a world that calls a grown man a woman "because he feels like one" and then applies that same non-logic to illustrated fictional creatures. Take Natani of the Two Kinds webcomic, for example. Body of a woman. Born a woman. A freak spell gone awry implants a portion of her brother's "identity" into her and she begins to think she's suddenly a man. Post an image of Natani (non-"rule 63") on this site and the appropriate tag, regardless of "character's personal identity," is female. I get that. You get that. But not everyone else does. YOU have the authority to over-ride their protests and opinions. I have the TIME to answer those protests and opinions with excerpts of site policy and references to administrative decisions on similar disputes. To me, that's how the system works. Members do their best to settle things amongst themselves and only ever bother an administrator when a resolution cannot be reached. Maybe I've over-simplified it, maybe that's not how it works here. I don't know. What I do know is I'm absolutely fed up with having solo thunder-dicks and horse-cocks showing up every few images in a search consisting solely of the tag "female" and getting trash-talked by peers and put under the gun by administrators who see me as more of a problem than the people who openly disregard site policy not only in terms of tagging but in terms of general conduct towards other members. I get a lot of flak for shutting down trolls but never see an administrator take much action (if any at all) against those same trolls. In this particular case, on this particular post, I wouldn't say there's been any trolling. In other instances recently in which you've stepped in to call a cease and desist, there was definite trolling going on.

I just want to be able to browse in peace and get the results (and ONLY the results) that I searched for. The problem is inconsistent and inaccurate tagging, and those who try to push for it against site policy, not the people who are trying to PROMOTE accurate and consistent tagging practices in compliance with site policy.

i have blacklisted female solo and female solo_focus but front page is always full of these because people constantly forgets to use female tag, solo tag or solo focus tag. but instead of running around and picking fights with people and writing essays screaming about it, i add the missing tags and i move on. if i see that specific user constantly forgetting to add the tags, i just send them a friendly pm requesting them to use the tags (in your case, you could just report them since constantly using incorrect gender tags is against rules)

  • Picking fights? Screaming? I guess if someone has a firm opinion and expresses it in a way that leaves no question as to their position folks like you get intimidated and think they must be "screaming" or "yelling" or just plain "bitching."

So I'll leave that at that and pose this question to Ratte: do I now report Multisija and Kyubii for "continuing this discussion" after you politely but firmly told us to can it? Or should I just assume you're still monitoring this "thread" of comments and you've already reprimanded them privately for the same "trolling/spamming and disregarding an administrator" that you came down on me for?
