They weren't removed. Your first comments were on the smaller version of this image here. But then this bigger and better quality version of the image was uploaded and the smaller one was deleted.
Also, sometimes a comment can seem to disappear if it gets voted down a lot. When that happens, you can easily see any hidden (voted down) comments by looking for the text link just above the comments section on an image. The link should say something like "1 comment below threshold" if there's a voted down comment being hidden. Clicking that link text will reload the comment section on that image with ALL of the comments visible this time. There won't be any text link there if all the comments are already being shown. Here's an example of an image with a hidden comment so that you can see what that looks like.
If you don't want low-voted comments to ever be hidden when you're looking at images, then you can change your settings on this page. Look for the section called "Comments". There's a box with a number in it next to "comment threshold". Change it to be "-200" and then save your settings. That should keep any comments from being hidden since most comments won't be voted down by that much. Or you can set it at whatever level you want it to be. Though you'll want to keep it a minus - number most likely to avoid accidentally hiding positive voted comments.
