  • Her 'junk' better be down her body near her tail. The lack of armor/clothing on the 'human crotch' seems to say "no" to the legs-in-sleepingbag anatomy.

What purpose does her upper body serve shaped like that?

Well, if the aliens are trying to come across as being friendly...

You ask any female that, too? :) It's quite obvious IMHO that she is a result of genetic manipulation, given how she looks like a human and an Earthern cobra combined. We know the Ethereals genetically manipulate and re-shape all their subjects - Floaters are the same race as mutons, for example... just heavily modified.

Genetic manupulation? They did a poor job, then. I get the arms, but why the ribcage, waist and hips? Seems to be weakening the upper body to me.

And yes, I do question things like breasts in fictional species. Breasts serves no purpose other than sex appeal. They are part of our sexual evolution and for "some reason" they appear on humanoid species in all kinds of different universes.

And that's a bad thing how...?

It makes sense within the human perspective. For creatures that have evolved their own way, especially non-mammalian species, it doesn't add up to their natural beauty.

  • Research: Turns out the "Viper" is from Xcom: UFO Defense and was the "Thin man" in enemy unknown. So we're not fighting any new characters at all, not even that tall pink thing from the trailer is new, that's just an evolved sectoid with a fresh pair of pearly whites and a mind control ability for the basic type. Xcom 2, might be harder than dark souls on novice.

You sound just like the one dude from Weaver's comic about this.

It's not that big a deal.

No, it's not that big of a deal, but it greatly adds to the legitimacy of galactic species.

You cannot just alter a few genes and "add" arms. They are suspended somewhere, y'know. Also, snakes have ribcages too - they are just very elongated. They mixed the genes of human and snake, basically. Snakes are not "built" to slither with an erect upright stance... They had to add a more rigid spine for the upper body, no doubt. Best and easiest way just to keep the human "settings" for that department.

Ummm, you misread. That was a funny blurb IGN put under the image. :) Thin Men have reptilian DNA but if they looked like this under their skin, I think Dr Wahlen would have noticed during the autopsy.

Yes, game will be harder but you just have to do hit and run missions, not defeat all aliens. You will be fighting a guerilla war. I am cruious how that will work. I hope they got rid of the stupid "you can only go to one terror site" thing - I had enough soldiers to do three...

Except for all you know, they AREN'T a galactic species at all. I'd wait and listen before moaning, IGN is doing weekly articles and they will no doubt get to the enemies, then we'll know her background. My money is on genetic manipulation. I'll be not surprised if they add the Reaper too as some sort of genetically modified alligator monster.

Yeah, because the science in this series so far has been so hard and plausible.

My bad. Haven't played X-com. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bitching. I'm pointing out this tired trend of idolizing the human form. This is especially obvious in female alien species.

That's because human males look like freaks of nature, either they're a bit overweight, or have veins popping out their skin. and more than likely, it's the vein problem.

Really? You think veins are that disturbing? I have always thought that males have a more efficient body. I agree that females' look better, but that's because of, you know, the human psyche.

I don't have an issue with veins, just when they're raising the skin to where you can touch them. Veins, in my mind, should be seen slightly in areas where blood is rich to draw, not melding into the skin so I can trace a single vein, that horrifies me.

Seems like a fear you can't escape facing. Pun intended.

more like I find it disgusting. How women can find pulsating veins attractive is as mind boggling as how they find a douchebag with poor social manners, "gang" relations, and a fashion sense that only includes sportswear and shitty puns.

Don't worry, it's new info. PLus the added info of what we knew of the Thin Men.

The latest info is from a commentary by the developers on the trailer... It basically confirms the Viper is the same species as the Thin Men, obviously a different gender, and since they look almost nothing alike, I am guessing it's simply that they have more reptile genes than human ones. Thin Men were almost human in appearance, save for scaley skin in places (which they hid under clothing), reptilian eyes (hence the sunglasses) and a rather flexible skeletal system which probably the viper uses too.
