which raises another point, why is it typically only considered nudity in cases like this ONLY if the nipples are visible? if those weren't visible it'd probably be considered about the same way as people regard sally acorn for example.

the whole thing just strikes me as people being nitpicky and stupid overall.

Exposed breasts (with nipples) are considered questionable here. Featureless breasts are taken similarly to "clothed" breasts; they aren't questionable unless they are being sexualized in some way.
