I'm guessing that either the amulet is messing with Dawn's mind, or Dawn's just turning into a major bitch by gloating about power that she doesn't actually have without the amulet falling into her lap. Hard to tell at this point.

Not to sound over technical, but I'm thinking the soul absorbing traits of the amulet could be passing on bits of personality from Mara. I could be completely wrong, but it's kinda sounding like it.

i think it's a style for expression, similar to the faces in cromartie highschool make. They always have darkened shadowed out black eyes whenever they're serious.

If Mara's inside that Soul Lock, his is Dawn supposed to prove she's real? Plus how does she know that portal even leads to her world?
