    Wait a minute, isn't he a skeleton?

Oh, Sans likes to drink ketchup or something, which is why he looks like he's bleeding.

When you beat him in genoicide, he's cut across his chest which starts bleeding, then walks off-screen to die.

this is not proven yet but Sans is believed by some to be a being who has both a human and monster soul which is why he is such a powerful boss and to me would makes sense that he was a human who obtained a monster soul to negate a humans limited life span which is why he is a skeleton but this isnt proven just speculation

Otherwise a good theory, but humans can't absorb any souls, neither from humans nor monsters. If he did have both souls, he would have to be a monster who's absorbed a human soul. Besides he has a brother who is clearly just another monster.
But then it raises a question that if he did have a human soul, why wouldn't he just bring it to Asgore so he could finish his plans without having to hurt Frisk?

I'm not sure about the second part, but in game, when you go through the True Lab, it states that Humans can in fact absorb souls of boss monsters. In this I believe that sans, in fact, absorbed the soul of Asriel. He was Alex, who came to the mountain because he hated humanity, possibly for what he saw other humans do to Asriel.

I feel like people forget about bone marrow sometimes. That is a good explanation, though.
