People have been depicting human/animal forms long before the tag "Furry" was coined.

UPDATE!!! Sage Deer was in Atlanta and I suggested he visit the statue, he DID go to Buckhead and found the park renovated, the Storyteller was gone, and in it's place was a life-size statue of the property owner. I called the artist and he didn't know it was gone, but he still has another Storyteller with a Rams head in Birmingham, check it out.
The sculptor was ridiculed for some time about the half-man, half Buck statue, from religious zealots, thinking it was devilish and Pagan, instead of accepting the piece as a work of art, they finally had it removed. You have to wonder how many wonderful works of art have been hidden or destroyed in the name of religion or morality, when in the end they are products of imagination, skill, and labors of love. I can't imagine how vain someone can be erecting a statue of themselves while still alive (they usually erect statues of dead hero's, not live ass-holes. It all looks kinda like a North Korea thing Kim Jong-whatever, the all powerful OZ.

You'll notice the Ram has clothes on this time, one of the other complaints with the Buck statue was his nakedness, can't have naked deer running around telling stories in the woods. In fact, to be honest, if I were in the audience, listening to him speak, my eyes would be below the waist, so hate me for it.
