it would probably just be carefully placed dye, like painting on an easel, the real trick would be how to make it stay a decent amount of time without a weekly or monthly reapplication. oh and making sure it doesn't run when they take a bath or shower...

I read a book on digital drawing techniques. On one of its chapters, it explains how to put tattoos or logos around curved surfaces, such as her arms.

Problem's not with the digital art, problem's with the fact that tattooing fur really doesn't make much sense.

Could be some new-fangled future tech that makes hair follicles produce a specific color in specific spots.
