S'funny, I don't remember Hong Kong Phooey having quite so many lighting effects and ridiculous "powers". I think the artists of this have been a watching a _little_ too much Japanese animation.
Also, HKP never changed into a hulking martial arts master. Original cartoon was cheesy, but superior.

this was an official thing paid for by cartoon network. they were looking to re-envision the show, not make more of the same. Now, I like to believe this was made with a sense of humour. It's meant to be ironic, making fun of the new 'X-TREME' kids cartoon shows. But given this is cartoon network, I'm pretty sure it's meant to come across as a consept for a legit show. it IS kinda cool for a 2 minute short, but if it became like a proper cartoon on TV I would rage. Not that I was a big fan of the original but...
