Quite simply, don't use anything sharp or rough. Q-tips are surprisingly a bad idea. Using something solid and plastic/metal is a good idea. Something smooth. As for lubricant, use a whole bunch. But be careful because a bad choice of lube can be painful. So many things you'd expect to be safe to use end up being agony.

Then go at it! And you'll probably think "What's the big whoop? Hardly feels like anything." Which I believe is because you're meant to go pretty deep. Tap that prostrate a little and you'll have unlocked cheat mode for masturbation. Even without any movement at all, having something putting pressure on that part can be pretty swell! Just don't stuff it in so far that you can't still grip it. As a normal penised person, I can safely say this isn't true. I've never had pre like, ever... Oh, maybe I'm actually weird then?
