Litwick's candle is only lit when it is consuming the life force of people/pokemon.

Its most likely due to the fact that you only ever really encounter one in combat, Litwick could just be feeding of your energy as you see it, that also goes for if you catch one and check in it in a party.

Ambiguous gender when it's the male variant of Meowstic. Seems legit.
