Chinese/Mandarin is really dense looking (very high stroke count) and masculine (imo). It sounds like you have a stuffy nose and uses fucktons of tonal crap to differentiate things. It looks like a brick wall of strokes. I have a stroke when I have to listen to it.

In these contexts Japanese is easily identified by the simplistic hirigana/katakana (base sounds). The kanji (words) also tend to have lower stroke counts. It also has very distinct individual sounds that actually make a semblance of sense to a westerner if you're only dealing with the simplest alphabets.

You can almost always tell the difference based on the font. Youtube.. not so much. But the sound itself demonstrates that it's Japanese.
