As of now, there are no birds in the world of Zootopia that display intelligence like the characters in the film have, though the creators of Zootopia have displayed an interest in making a city like Zootopia for birds, and another for lizards. Currently the only food sources are insects, fish, vegetables and fruit.

I would think that chickens would just consent to laying eggs for profit the same way that a carpenter would build a table for profit, or a singer would sing for profit, or such.
