MemberI've got said colored version saved on Telegram after a friend sent it. Sadly Telegram converts GIF to MP4 with an odd codec that most of my players are fickle about at best, so....can't exactly run a reverse image search with that to find it.
Mairo
JanitorThat's in a nutshell how all modern web services operate. Sharing gifs as gifs is simply far too taxing from all the aspects. I do not have any telegram video files at hand, but for some reason I doubt they would use non-standard codecs, because they do neet to play back on iOS, Android, WP, Windows, etc.
But it's still possible to search stuff the old fashioned way, like we did it before reverse image searching engines. You see in source that commissioner was Kyoushiro, where you can find this: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/19799477/
However that artist is DNP, meaning colored version can't be posted here.

Member......I don't see how GIF would be more taxing than full on video formats? Inferior in quality, sure, but they're simply an image file that retains it's seperate layers to play back as frames rather than merging when exported like PNG or JPG. There's no sound like video or code like Flash, the image is usually lower quality, and if the animator/artist knows how and it's a simple loop/not something like a TV screencap where there's pixels changing all over, file size can be saved by having the later frames only covering the parts that change over the course of the animation.
Now, the DNP bit I can understand. I didn't know, since I don't upload images I don't worry about violating the DNP/Avoid Posting guildines, though if I did I'd certainly read through that list and check on it regularly. Thanks for the clarification!

JanitorWell, the biggest issue is the filesize actually. With telegram, twitter, etc. we are talking about content that many users will watch on their phone or tons of content when scrolling trough wall quickly. Mobile can have data caps, which will run out really fast with gifs. On desktop user might have slower internet connection which can't download gifs fast enough to amount of scrolling being done. Even if those gifs were optimized (like you said, covering only parts that change) they can still be tens of times larger than video file is.
So: less data to save on server, gifs load up really fast for users, mobile users data caps do not scream in pain and take bit less resources to play it back. Then you also get bonuses like being able to pause, reverse, slomo and such. Everyone wins as long as nobody wants to save that gif :\
And because real competitors like apng and webp have nearly zero support, it does seem like gifs converted to webm/mp4 is the trend that continues.
But I could talk about this all day and majority won't care a damn. Thank you for mentioning that there were colored version. I did add "alternate version" tag and link to it for those stumbling upon here in future :3

MemberWhy not post the colored version here on e621? Is there even a reason not to?
Mairo
JanitorRead above comments and description.
TL;DR: Fuzzamorous is the artist of this one. Kyoushiro is the one who colored it, which makes kyoushiro second artist of the colored version and they are in the DNP list. So colored version can't be directly uploaded here.
