Well, now we know... yes there are male vipers. And they look glorious. It must be good to be the Viper King, surrounded by sooo many sexy females wanting to be his queen. :-)

  • Who wants to bet there will eventually be a mod that will make these guys female, in order to match the other vipers?

There is only one of him. I expect a mod that removes the crown and the spikes and recolors him as a regular but male viper.

    No venom glands?

I guess even the naysayers have to admit now that yes, Viper females have boobs. :P They are aliens, guys. They just look like earth snakes because "reasons".

Well it looks like king doesn't have venom, only ice. So venom glands are still canon

it was me. and i changed it because the character doesnt really look like male. and external knowledge has no weight in gender tagging.

FACEPALM. Really? NO. External knowledge DOES matter when I am posting fucking OFFICIAL ART. And he even LOOOKs male. Take your weird fetishes elsewhere.

No, Vahlen's notes mention that through unknown means, his venom glands mutated to produce freezing saliva. He spits it like the female vipers spit their venom, actually.

he.. doesnt really look male. face is feminine, body shape is fairly ambiguous and its impossible to tell if the character has breasts or not. and external information never matters in gender tagging. perhaps you should check out these pages:

    tag_what_you_see
    howto:tag genders

also what on earth my fetishes have to do with anything..?

On e621, we tag what we see, not what we know. I for instance know nothing about this character, but what I see is an ambiguous gender. Therefore, it should be tagged as such, regardless of what the artist, description or any other external source says.

The tags have been reverted to ambiguous_gender, which they need to stay on.

Additionally, please take a look at these 2 pages:

The real question is which will come first: Male generic vipers, or Queen viper?

I would not count on it. So far apart from a really bad skin mod and a half-working playeable aliens mod, not much has been done there. There isn't a nude Viper skin yet, even! I would make one, but so far I haven't figured out how to apply a skin back on the model to test it, the editor they gave with the game isn't very easy to use or learn, unlike Titan Quest's.

@SwiftNimblefoot why you still keep changing this to male????

Because I raised a ticket and WON. It's YOU who keeps changing it back. The mod ruled in my favour. I got a message saying "Ticket Approved and Tag changed".

But y'know what? If "external knowledge" does not count, then I'll just go and simply change the tags of, say EVERY picture of Midna. She does not have breasts on most pictures, so CLEARLY she isn't an obvious female, she MUST BE "ambigous gender", by your insane "logic". [/sarcasm]

Tag what you see. There is no real indication of gender, thus it's ambiguous. Leave it as it is.

Official gender is irrelevant and does not play a part in our tagging system.

  • It feels weird to try to decide "does it look female or male?" here. Because just like with an actual snake, we wouldn't have a clue. Or with an actual alien, we also wouldn't be able to tell. Makes sense to me to mark it as ambiguous. Looking it up online, you'd only really be able to tell what sex a snake is by comparison anyway.

But whatever he is, I'm loving the design!

  • This is ambiguous...? But the females clearly have breasts, and this guy does not... I suppose, that could count under TWYS. But if that's true then every male character that doesn't have a dick out and in your face is ambiguous. Which from what I understand, is not the case. But whatever, I'm gonna stay out'a this shit. I have an opinion, but I don't wanna get banned or some shit.

This is mostly because some people will ignore official genders, so that's why we like to tag what we see.
And some fan characters dont have a specific gender.
Thus, if there is no visible indication as to what gender the artist wants the character to be, we tag it as ambiguous.
Meaning, if there is no textual, or physical indication as to what gender it is. It is tagged ambiguous.
    I hope this helps.

    But something like this:

    https://e621.net/post/show/1102104/adeloo-antelope-anthro-clothed-clothing-cloud-fema

Is tagged as female, however the image we're looking at is considered ambiguous. I'd assume cause the image I linked, the character clearly has breasts. Yet that would mean that the Viper King should be tagged as male, cause he clearly doesn't have breasts. I mean, not to mention the character's name is "Viper KING". The name is considered important enough to need no clear, in-image textual or physical indication, yet it can't count as indication of the character's gender itself?

    This system confuses me.

  • I'm having a hard time seeing just how this is ambiguous. Given that this site has a tag what you see thing, i see a sharp angular face, a semi-boxy waist/torso, large semi-muscular hands, and a fairly masculine armor set. I don't need to see a dick to know this is a male, even ignoring that fact that the name is Viper KING.

So while i'm not going to change the tag because i don't need the possibility of the treat being enforced, i still think you'd either have to be blind or hanging out with some pretty manly women to think this is ambiguous in the slightest.

Yeah, my main issue is that this is OFFICIAL art of an established MALE character called the Viper KING, but nooo, the rules say we cannot tag things as male unless he has a giant bulge in his pants, I guess? So silly. Anyway, as per my advice, don't touch the tags or the mods will give you a warning.
