April 10th: The bill has been vetoed!
April 2nd: The politicians in Arizona are about to sign into law a bill that would mandate sites like e621 to either impose age verification on all users or be at a risk of lawsuits. Such system would be required to go through third party vendors, who in turn must go through a government database to verify every user's age. This is not only a major violation of privacy, but it also opens up a very real danger of identity theft through phishing schemes and other methods, not to mention that we would not be able to control any of that information to make sure it is permanently deleted after age verification is complete.
Unfortunately, Arizona is the state out of which e621 operates, which means that this law will almost certainly affect us if it is to pass. If want to help us ensure that this site can continue to serve you without being required to know who you are, please ask the Arizona governor to veto this bill.
Please, help us get the word out by letting others know about this issue.

MemberI am actually a little upset that this is tagged female. And that Crossdressing, Girly, Ambiguous gender tags were all removed.

I lay me down tonight
Swim in the calm tonight
This art does drown
What follows me as the whitest lace of light
Just begs to be imbrued
What follows has led me to this place
...uh hm... sorry, I'm no Davey Havok, after all.
Indeed. You know, that's actually a really good way to prove that.
Sorry.
BTW: Neat uniform!
Sorry, I'm out of the loop with the tagging guidelines. All I know is that they're pretty well thought out. There's a ton of information on the wiki. Beyond that, I'm sure you can find help in the forums.
But you could look at it from the bright side: If it wasn't for some boys being mislabeled "female", some of us would never have discovered the beauty of that world.

MemberSorry, dear. I don't know if Grey will ever return, but,for lack of an EDIT function for Comments, I feel compelled to amend my last statement.
Obviously, the “prove” part is a joke. But here we have the Tag What You See policy, which is indeed well thought-out, as I recently had the occasion to ponder in thread https://e621.net/forum/show/255885, though I'm sure the topic comes up regularly. Basically, since we're dealing with the limitations of existing code, it comes down to what philosophy works best for the majority.

MemberI'm aware of the Tag what you see policy, and dislike it immensely. There is a girly tag, there is an ambiguous gender tag, yet despite this. A character with no breasts and no determinable gender is by default female and damn any proof otherwise. Why have either of those tags? If there are only visible dick or female genders?
You use to be able to browse trap art on E621 ever since they purged every picture with the ambiguous gender and girly tags and replaced it with female with the exception where a dick is visible e621 is crap for browsing trap art. I don't think I'll ever see how that is "effective" tagging.
