  • I still can't psychologically deal with the fact that some Zootopians eat bugs. Not just that, but it's considered a delicacy in cooking terms.

I mean, I technically am drinking elements of bug juice right now since I know that Dr. Pepper related drinks have all kinds of freaky organic additives in them, and like... but... still...

  • Why douse everyone have them eat bugs, I really don't get it? In Zootopia only Mammals are antro. That leaves birds, including chicken, and reptiles to eat, so why bugs?

Rich Moore has said it's strongly probable that birds are sentient in the Zootopia universe. Fish is also a source of protein, but insects are common and let's be honest, it's really only people from first world countries that are squicked out about eating insects. Unless they're French because snails fed on garlic and served in garlic butter are freaking delicious.

  • I've always thought predators ate fish more than they did bugs. I mean, bugs are tiny and can't be very filling unless they are in massive quantities. Fish on the other hand..

Insects are, per weight, more nutritious than beef, chicken, pork, dog, cat, etc. Depending on how they are prepared, they can actually be kinda tasty. I've sampled quite a variety of them myself, so as weirded out as I was at first, I found them different but tasty.

Just avoid the poison bits if you happen to try eating scorpion.

Also... U.S. Food and Drug Administration allows as many as 56 insect parts in every peanut butter and jelly sandwich, up to 60 aphids in 31⁄2 ounces of frozen broccoli, and two or three fruit-fly maggots per 200 grams of tomato juice.

  • I always wonder if the herbivores would have evolved to be omnivores. The whole museum scene with the rabbits dressed in fur and hunting makes me think carrots aren't the only thing on the menu

  • I have had maggots in my oatmeal before. My mom walked next to me and asked why I was still preparing a bowl of oatmeal even though it was maggot infested. I simply said "more protein".
