This probably comes as a surprise to nobody, if you read Red Princess, it's kind of out there, but Ayn had very little interaction with Sabir growing up. The king is always away at other countries across the galaxy. But she loves him lots and enjoyed what time they did spend together, so by the time she's an adult, she sees him less like a father and more just like a longtime friend. Don't get me wrong, it's still incest, she just likes to help him out when the queen isn't doing a good job of keeping him happy.
