Description

I love the reflections on glossy varnish, it’s unfortunate they can’t be replicated in scans… so much of the beauty of traditional paintings gets lost in translation. Even the colors of an oil painting aren’t really “fixed”, at least not when painting in multiple layers, as each layer is slightly transparent and the light gets reflected by each layer giving the painting a slight glow and nuanced color.

This will be displayed tomorrow in a local restaurant along with other paintings of mine, it’s an exhibit which will last until next year and a great chance to show some furry art to a general public.

  • It will be cool if pictures of it hanging up in the restaurant get uploaded to here, or even on his tumblr. It's just so rare to see art like this (as far as I know) displayed in public. I am honestly kind of excited for the artist getting to display his work publically.

There's photos of the restaurant with his work (but not this particular painting) on his FA. He's been exhibiting at art events for years, but I'm not sure if he's done anything as public as a restaurant before - it's definitely really cool that he's putting himself out there.
