  • W-wait a minute...

That's the same "Sarge" logo Eric Schwartz used for the Sarges Chicken Bucket art where Sheila Vixen and another "OC?" character were chowing down on. I can't seem to find the source, but it looks so familiar!

Well, we don't exactly know if avians evolved along side mammals in the same way, as there was never any avian characters in zootopia. So we can guess that avians are non-sentient mammals that can be used as food, but in zootopia (the place not the movie) it might not be as acceptable as eating a patty made of bugs.

I vaguely recall the creators stating birds didn't make it to sentience

Well, two points as to logically why they wouldn't be applicable sentient species: the inclusion of flying would make them an apex predator to most smaller species, so it would need to be excluded. It may be minor, but would be a noticable detail should they make antagonistic avians.

The other is the same problem with tails, fur, and other large and in the way body details: how would wings and feathers fit in places? Not only are wings bulky, and feathers in rapid abundance, but what would their hands be if not wings?

Mind you, this is not an immediate idea: I think Disney thought out the limited species for a while, so it doesn't bring problems that need to be masked for a solution.

I'm going that way in a little fanfic I'm playing with having Avians and smaller reptiles, and therefore EGGS being in the lower food chain.

    Sarges Chicken Bucket

My chicken place is going to be 'Colonel Pandas Fried Chicken'.

Well, if they didn't want to be eaten, they shouldn't be tasting so damn good. It's their fault, really

  • The directors said in an interview that they weren't averse to the idea of a reptilopolis or birdopolis on another continent, but that Zootopia was restricted to mammals to keep the focus on the predator/prey dynamic. There's really no reason they wouldn't eat non-sapient birds if they were around - maybe that's why there aren't any - the preds got tired of bugs and fish and ate them all.

Judy must have gotten so many weird looks when she walked into an all-pred restaurant. Best GF ever!

After all she's done for the city add to the fact that she's a cop..I'm pretty sure she can get away with it.

Corvids are always sentient no matter what universe you're in.
