A demon is a spiritual creature, either beneficent or maleficent, present in many beliefs, influencing humans while escaping their control when summoned or otherwise.

These entities in mythology are very often (if not all the time represented as) evil, they are endowed with reason and can emanate from places or people (e.g. the Yōkai in Japan), being able to influence human souls or the places they pass through and being able to control bodies.
