Stitch, also known as Experiment 626 ("six-two-six"), is the titular alien genetic experiment protagonist of the Disney animated film Lilo & Stitch and its franchise.

Created by Dr. Jumba Jookiba as one of his destructive genetic experiments, Stitch roughly resembles a blue furred koala with four arms (a lower pair of which are retractable); long, sharp retractable claws (four on each paw); round feet; big rabbit-like ears with notches along the outer rims of them (one near the tip of his right ear, one near the base of his left ear); large dark blue eyes (which appear as black); a big dark blue nose; sharp fanged teeth; two retractable antennae; three retractable spines; four digits (fingers and toes) on each paw (hands and feet); indigo markings on his back, the back of his head, and back of the tips of his ears; round indigo pawpads on his palms and soles; aqua countershading around his eyes and from his lower lip down to the base of his torso; and a small, stubby tail. He is super strong, highly intelligent, and incredibly mischievous, yet also (in his own words) cute and fluffy.

Stitch was initially an apathetic and mean creature until he was adopted by Lilo Pelekai on the Hawaiian island of Kauai as her "dog". She used the Hawaiian concept of 'ohana (meaning family)—and Elvis Presley as a role model—to turn him into a kind and loving person. The two would then tame the other 625 experiments made before him in Lilo & Stitch: The Series using the same 'ohana philosophy. He personally sees the other experiments as his "cousins" (based on Hawaiian slang with similar connotations to "mate" in British and Australian English), with the exception of Angel (Experiment 624) who becomes his girlfriend. In the franchise's East Asian spin-offs, the anime Stitch!, the Chinese animated series Stitch & Ai, and Japanese manga Stitch & the Samurai, Stitch becomes separated from Lilo (or does not meet her at all in the case of the manga) and ends up on different regions of Earth, where he gains new best friends with other humans.
