Jair Messias Bolsonaro (born 21 March 1955) is a Brazilian politician and retired military officer who served as the President of Brazil from 2019 to 2022 as a member of the Social Liberal Party (PSL). He previously served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies, representing the state of Rio de Janeiro, from 1991 to 2018. He succeeded Michel Temer and was succeeded by former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. He is known for being ultra conservative and far right in his politics.

Due to allegations of abuse of power by using his position to promote his candidacy during official events on top of accusations surrounding his supporters attacking government buildings in a failed attempt to cause a coup d'etat and reinstate Bolsonaro as president after his defeat, the Brazilian Superior Electoral Court barred him from running for reelection until 2030.
