Species: canis
post #2621718 post #622857 post #2544342 post #688879
Probably the most well-known genus of the canid family and canine subfamily. This genus contains most familiar canids, including the wolf, coyote, dog, and part of the jackal informal group. It does not include foxes, urocyon, false foxes, or the maned wolf, among other smaller genera--these are all part of other genera and should not get the canis tag.
