post #1816936 post #1063420 post #14484 post #176825
The largest family of rodents, including old-world rats and mice. Murids are widespread throughout the world, though they are native to Eurasia and Africa. Note that this means that new-world rodents like hamsters, voles, and new-world rats and mice are part of an entirely different family and thus should not be tagged with murid or any tag under it.
This family can be divided further into five subfamilies: deomyinae, gerbillinae, lophiomyinae, leimacomyinae and murinae.
Subfamilies, genera, and species:
- muridae
- lophiomyinae (maned rats)
- leimacomyinae (togo mice)
