Sylvester James Pussycat, Sr. is an anthropomorphic tuxedo cat who originates from the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons since 1945.

He is often considered the enemy to Tweety Bird and other small characters like Speedy Gonzales, though later iterations of his character often see a developed friendship with them in spite of this.

In terms of his cartoon appearances, Sylvester is often prideful and persistent, though often ends up losing in his encounters. The cat is often shown as having a lisp due to his tongue sticking out of his mouth, which also gives him his catchphrase – "Sufferin' succotash!" He also has an identical son named Sylvester Jr.
