Copyright: wonder boy (series)
Wonder Boy (also known as Monster World) is a franchise of video games originally published by Sega, and developed by Westone Bit Entertainment. Upon Westone filing for bankruptcy in 2014, its assets were transferred to the LAT corporation, but Sega still holds the trademark to the Wonder Boy series and characters. The creator of the Wonder Boy series, Ryuichi Nishizawa still remained involved in future game releases after 2014 despite those games being developed by other studios. Westone was also responsible for licensing Hudson Soft (now part of Konami) to produce Adventure Island, a game based on the Wonder Boy concept and universe, but due to Sega owning the franchise copyrights, has changed the names of characters in the series.
The Wonder Boy trademark still remains with Sega, and no titles released after 2014 have been published by Sega.
