scp-001
SCP-001 is an umbrella term for various tags originating from the mythos of the SCP Foundation website. Their hub page, SCP-001 — Awaiting De-classification [Blocked], is a repository for several SCP-001 Proposals, SCP entries that could be considered SCP-001.
In the early years of the SCP Foundation (2007–2009), the SCP-001 slot was deeply contested over who would have the honor to author the first numerically listed SCP. Through a combined effort between the wiki's administrative staff and members, it was agreed upon that any user could write an SCP-001 Proposal (pending the site standard quality control) to circumvent the exclusivity of the slot. After the creation of thirteen SCP-001 Proposals between 2009 and 2012, SCP-001 — Awaiting De-classification [Blocked] was established as the hub for all and any future proposals.
In universe, the explanation for the multiple listed SCP-001s is that there is an undisclosed amount of fabricated documents to conceal the (if any) real SCP-001 documents and implicate doubt of factuality in the event a document was to be intercepted by interlopers or leaked to unauthorized personnel. It is equally probable that of the listed proposals: all are true; at least one is true; all are equally either true or false; at least one is false, or all are false. In addition to the decoy system, the access page in the SCP Foundation's database is protected by a pretermemetic cognitiohazardous image designed to cause fatal cardiac arrest in any uninoculated and thus not authorized person attempting access.
As of January 2024, there are fifty SCP-001 Proposals listed in SCP-001 — Awaiting De-classification [Blocked]. Some have been deleted or rewritten overtime, some have been coauthored, and some authors have published several proposals. SCP-001 Proposals vary wildly, and could describe SCP-001 as characters, species, objects, locations, phenomenon, events, or concepts; some are reinterpretations of the such element from prior works on the wiki, even other SCPs. There are also ten Joke SCPs written under the pretense of SCP-001 Proposals.
