Charlie Morningstar is a demoness titled as the Princess of Hell who founded the Happy Hotel complex, and thus serves as the main protagonist of the animated series Hazbin Hotel. She, despite what most of Hell thinks, believes that redemption is possible for any and all demons and hopes that doing so will achieve the betterment of her kingdom. Her parents are Lilith and Lucifer, the ruling monarchs of the land, and unlike other inhabitants, she was born there rather than being sent there after a death on Earth. A bisexual character, she has had a boyfriend in the past, but she is currently with the demoness Vaggie and feels very close to her.

In character terms, Charlie's caring, happy personality and overall optimism contrasts greatly with her dreary environment and the tough task that she's assigned herself. Her friendly, non-threatening appearance features big eyes with golden sclera and large rosy cheeks, the tall, pale skinned humanoid looking unlike many of the stereotypically monstrous dwellers with her in hell. Reflecting her sense of purpose, she generally wears fancy clothing such as her trademark outfit: an elegant pink tuxedo matched with sharp black pants as well as other accessories.

Charlie has the power of flight, pyrokinesis, and a Demon Transformation. In her Demon Form, her eyes' sclera become bright red and her pupils become slits. She also grows large dark red horns and sharpened teeth. The powers she wields in this form are unknown.
