Species: ancient pokemon
Ancient Pokémon are a category of Paradox Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Scarlet. They are past relatives of present-day Pokémon brought to the current time by Professor Sada's time machine. Ancient Pokémon tend to be far larger and have a more menacing and naturalistic appearance compared to their present-day equivalents.
Though they appear to be alternate forms of existing Pokémon, they are considered to be distinct Pokémon within the Pokédex and should not be tagged as the species of their present-day relative. They should not be confused with Fossil Pokémon or the trio of Generation 3 Legendary Pokémon referred to as "super-ancient Pokémon" (Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza).
